What does the Upload Button Do?
If you have access to the Web Manager tool, the Upload Button is probably inactive on your Control Panel. The upload button accesses a very powerful tool for uploading files from you home or office computer to the main web directory for your site (should you need to upload code to your cgi-bin, you will have to make arrangements with Tightweb to upload it for you). The tool allows you to browse your pc, locate the file you wish to copy to your site and copy it (upload it). Some caution should be exercised when uploading files however! Should you have an existing file of the same name on your site - the uploaded file will overwrite the older file and there is no way to undo the action. .

When should I upload files?
Uploading files works well when an image or graphic has changed and you want to have the new one appear on your web site. Keep in mind that only certain types of files can be uploaded: jpg, gif, png, html, htm and shtml. You can also modify an existing html file (web page) on your office or home computer and upload that file as a new or modified file to your site. If you have access to the Web Manager, it is recommended that you use the Web Manager to edit and modify you existing pages. Should you wish to upload a file - you can do it right from the Web Manager tool. If you do not have access to Web Manager, you'll have to use the upload tool.

What tools do I have available to copy new files to my web site?
If you have the Web Manager option - you can upload services from that tool to your web site. In this event, the upload button is inactive. If you don't have access to Web Manager, the upload button is active and will allow you to upload files to your web site. Using the Web manager for uploading provides you with one additional security level -- and up to three uploads at one time.

If I can use the upload or editing tools available in my Control Panel, will I be charged anything extra?
NO! If you can update your site using the available tools, then the only investment is your time. If you can use an existing page to create a template in order to add additional pages - you can add extra pages at no additional cost except for your time. If, however, you require assistance or advice, you will be charged for the time involved.
