What happens to my email if the web server goes down?
First of all - none of your email will be lost. You may not receive it for a short time - and you may get an error if you are sending out email using the tightweb server. However, email is managed by a seperate server and your incoming email will be cached until the server is back up.

How can I tell if my site is down?
Quite frankly - that is a problem. You may experience problems if your ISP is down or if there is a broken link some where in the system. You could also experience an outage if a router was down somewhere on the internet backbone. Tightweb monitors all of its hosting clients' sites on a minute to minute basis. Logs are collected and maintained on special - independent servers - regarding downtimes and failures. Such logs are reviewed and reported upon by Tightweb's technical staff on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. If reports determine an excessive amount of downtime for any hosting client - Tightweb will provide notification and an agreeable refund/additional service committment to that client. All servers experience problems. On a daily basis, most major broad band service providers such as Cox and Comcast report downtime and outages. Because the internet depends so much on independent networks throughout the nation and the world - a minor failure anywhere could affect your services. Our committment is to do everything we can to make your internet site as valuable and available as possible. If you have any questions or comments regarding downtime, email them to sales@tightweb.com

How can I protect against actual site downtime?
You can upgrade your hosting package. We offer stand-alone and dedicated hosting services providing for cascading servers which experience less than 1% outage a year. Unfortuantly these services are expensive to own and run so the cost is usually far greater than the more basic service. For critical sites - and especially if those site experience increasing traffic and storage requirements - dedicated and stand-alone servers may be the right answer. To upgrade your hosting package - contact the Tightweb SALES DEPARTMENT today!
